Bubonic Plague
You ever thought that the Medieval Europe was all knights saving princesses and castles
with clean moats…Well your wrong. Medieval Europe was dirty and had many dieses
such as measles, pox, and the worst of all BUBONIC PLAGUE.
The Bubonic Plague is a blood infection caused by flea bites. The fleas came off
of rats which where millions of them in Europe due to the filth.
It causes blotches on the skin called buboes, buboes gave the bubonic plague its name.
Bubonic plague causes swellings in the neck and groan area, it also causes bleeding from
the lungs and high fever which drove people crazy.
The plague arrived in 1347 when Mongol merchant ships arrived in Europe. Most
ships where ships with everyone dead already with the plague Ghost ships). The rats
came of the ships and fleas attacked anyone near by. For years the Europe people didn’t
know who to blame so they blamed the Jews. The people thought Jewish poisoned water
from the city water whole. The people would round all Jews up and burn them in wooden
houses.
The plague killed 25-40% of Europe population. The plague killed over 25million
people died between (1347-1351). The plague spread all of Europe by 1357. People
usually died within 2 to 4 days. That’s over 6 million people per year! 45 to 50% died
in a 4 year period.
The Plague lasted for centuries. One of the last plagues was the great plague of
London. It killed over 100,000 people 20% of London’s population. Although the fact
has not been proven, the Great Fire of London ended the Bubonic plague by killing the

Bubonic plague in the present can be treated with antibiotics, but 1 of 7 cases are
extremely bad.
The Bubonic Plague was one of the worlds greatest epidemics Europe has ever
seen. The plague lasted from 1347-1700’s. The reason why people say the Bubonic
Plague died out is because the Great Fire of London. They thought the Great Fire of
London Killed all the effected rats.
Can the plague come back like 1700’s?
